about

As the component parts of the peerless Charlottesville, VA free music duo Grand Banks, Tyler Magill and Davis Salisbury have developed a unique shared musical vocabulary and a nearly telepathic ability to communicate with each other. This split represents the latest chapter in their ongoing musical dialogue, a sort of unofficial follow-up to Grand Banks' 2015 Oxtail release, "QB4: 1877-1896."

Magill's Carry project mines the depths of memory, presenting an appropriately hazy and disjointed narrative across three tracks. Tones shift into focus and quickly fall apart, radio static drops in and out, and field recordings intermingle with live performance. Our narrator may be unreliable, but he sure as hell has something to say.

Salisbury takes his Dais Queue project into mellower but no less powerful territory. Leaving behind the raw prepared guitar of his previous Oxtail work, "I Took The Opportunity To Enter The Ice Cave" goes long, building a shimmering, shifting pool with effects and processing that ebbs and flows but never loses its presence or intensity.
